Early Times Report JAMMU, June 8: The Joint Action Committee consisting of SKUAST-Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) and Non Teaching Employees Association (NTEA-J) held a meeting with Dr. Surinder Kumar Gupta, the Acting Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu and Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu. The committee, chaired by Dr. Vikas Sharma, discussed various concerns related to the university. During the meeting, Dr. Vikas Sharma, President of TAJ, emphasized the need for prompt resolution of pending cases of teachers and scientists at SKUAST-Jammu. These cases involve promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). Dr. Vikas Sharma highlighted that these promotions have been pending for the past two years, and timely action is crucial to prevent any financial burden on the government in terms of pending arrears. He further emphasized that timely promotions will motivate the staff to contribute effectively to the overall development of the university, whereas delays could adversely affect their efficiency and impact the progress of the institution. S. KD Singh, President of NTEA-J, raised several demands, including the implementation of SRO-311 for the remaining Class-IV employees, departmental promotions for non-teaching staff, and the introduction of a career progression scheme for the library staff. After patiently listening to the concerns raised by the Joint Action Committee, VC SKUAST-J, Dr. SK Gupta, assured them that he is committed to addressing these genuine issues. He pledged to make every effort to find suitable solutions and ensure timely action.
