National Conference- Apni Party lock horns over ‘political begging’ | Kone Banega Bikhari? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: Even as the former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said his party “wont beg” for the much-awaited Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Apni Party has taken at dig at the NC. Former Minister and senior leader of the Apni Party, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali reacted on the social media addressing his post to Omar Abdullah saying “With due respect sir, @OmarAbdullah sb The primary responsibility of any political party is to fight for the rights of the people, I don’t understand how we can say we will not beg from them ....” Earlier, Omar had told media that “Elections are the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. If robbing us of our rights will help them (central government) gain confidence, then so be it. We are not Nangay Bhookay that we’ll beg before them.” In response the NC spokesperson, advised Zulfikar that his Apni Party should beg and who was stopping them from begging. “You beg them, Sir. Who is stopping you?” the spokesperson said. For the last few months the war of words between the Apni Party led by Altaf Bukhari and the National Conference has only been heating up. Last month a prominent youth politician of the Apni Party took at dig at the NC President and Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah discussing his family affairs including how and where the Abdullah family kids were married. Sources said the “verbal assault” on Dr Abdullah had led to a major controversy between the National Conference and the Apni Party and that for the last around a fortnight there had been a “ceasefire” which seems to have ended. The Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari and the Abdullahs are long believed to be having differences which seem to be reflected the war of words between the two parties. A political observer said both NC and Apni Party were into war of words to gain political mileage. |
