Early Times Report JAMMU, June 17: Kiran Jamwal, Principal of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, flagged off the 3rd group of students for the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme. The group, consisting of 45 students, including 21 girls, is participating in the trek organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K in the Dauladhars of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. Accompanied by Chairman Upkar Singh Jamwal and teachers Mohd Arif Wani and Shilpa, the group is being led by Sonam Sidharth and Siksham Verma, senior organizers of the club. In another event, the 2nd group of trekkers from Oriental Academy Sr. Secondary School, Jammu, returned after an exciting trek from Mcleodganj to Flag Point on the Dharamkot to Triund trail. They also enjoyed visits to Bhagshu Nag, Waterfall, Dharamkot (Mini Israel), Dal Lake, Dalai Lama Temple in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, Tapovan, Chamunda Devi, and Nagini Devi. A highlight of the program was a visit to a sprawling tea garden and a tea manufacturing company, where the students learned about the tea production process. Tawi Trekkers J&K has been organizing Himalayan Trekking Programs in Dalhousie-Chamba, Kullu-Manali, and Dharamshala areas of Himachal Pradesh since 1994. These programs have become immensely popular among students during summer vacations, with over 15,000 boys and girls having participated so far. The club aims to "Catch Them Young" and instill in them a sense of adventure, love for nature, and self-confidence, nurturing them to become bold and responsible future leaders of the country. |
