After spending Rs 8 cr authorities abandon Govt Nursing College building at Gangyal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: The Government Nursing College at Gangyal here built at a whopping cost of Rs 8 crore has been lying abandoned since 2019-20. The approach road leading to the building is not visible as it’s covered by the Bhang plantation and anyone who wants to reach there has to walk through Bhang and cross the nallah. One can see a few window panes broken and doors shattered. Fans have been damaged and a few have been stolen. Chances of the abandoned building becoming operational in the near future look bleak. The security guards, according to the sources, were deployed at the building just 2 months before after a private news channel filed a story on the abandoned building. The private security guards deployed there ensure that the media stays away from the building as they have been reportedly given strict instructions from the higher ups to keep the media away. It’s in place to mention here that nursing students for a long time have been demanding a separate building for their college and have staged many protests against non-availability of the classrooms at the Government Medical College Jammu. The Government Nursing College building at Gangyal being left unattended for the past 3-years has put a question mark on the efficiency of the Health and Medical Education Department. The taxpayers money spent on the construction of the building seems to have “gone down the drain. Despite the building being ready, nursing students are being forced to study at GMC Jammu. ” |
