Director Agriculture launches crop insurance week celebrations, flags-off awareness Van | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: The 5th Crop Insurance Week celebrations were inaugurated at Krishi Bhawan, Jammu, with the flagging off of an Fasal Bima Yojna Awareness Van by Director of Agriculture Production Department, K. K. Sharma. The week-long event aims to raise awareness about the Crop Insurance scheme and encourage maximum farmer enrollment for Kharif-2023. The awareness van campaign, organized in collaboration with IFFCO TOKIO Insurance Company and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, is dedicated to informing farmers about the benefits of the PMFBY scheme. During the launch, Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of the Fasal Bima Yojna in mitigating financial risks for farmers and ensuring stability in their income. He also mentioned that the awareness van will cover all the panchayats in Jammu District, promoting the PMFBY scheme and its coverage among the farming community. So far, 1 lakh farmers in Jammu Division have already benefited from PMFBY, with claims settlements amounting to Rs. 96 crores. Director Agriculture expressed gratitude to the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha, for the launch of the PMFBY scheme in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The event was attended by officials from IFFCO TOKIO (PMFBY) Jammu, Reliance Insurance Company, as well as Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) and JD (SLUB). |
