Jammu, July 10: Although BJP leaders have maintained a guarded silence over meeting with party national president J P Nadda, the party high command has asked J&K leadership to conduct a grassroots-level survey to assess the ground situation ahead of Lok Sabha elections. On July 7, BJP president J P Nadda chaired a meeting of party leaders from various states, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, as the party ramps up its campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Senior leaders deliberated on a host of organizational programmes, people’s feedback, and the strategy ahead, sources said. Functionaries from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Daman Diu-Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Haryana were present in the meeting. The meeting also comes ahead of assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram. Sources said that during a meeting with J&K leader J P Nadda made it clear that the party has to improve its performance in 2019 by launching an aggressive campaign for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Sources further reveal that BJP national president has further asked J&K leadership to ensure that all new entrants in the party must be properly adjusted to utilize their services in the coming Lok Sabha elections at the utmost level. As reported earlier by the Early Times, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already asked J&K BJP leaders to start preparations for the coming Parliamentary elections to win at least three Lok Sabha seats from the Union Territory. Highly placed sources said that Union Home Minister has set a target of winning three out of a total of five Lok Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir to improve its tall of the 2019 Parliamentary elections. Sources said that party leadership is mulling over the idea of fielding a strong Poonch-Rajouri-based leader on Anantnag seats to win this Parliamentary constituency to create history. |
