Crackdown on social media
7/10/2023 10:57:33 PM
The security agencies have launched a major crackdown on the social media and are scanning over 3,500 Facebook and Whatsapp pages that can fuel unrest and violence in Kashmir.
Earlier the security agencies had identified some Twitter accounts involved in spreading rumours in J&K and acted swiftly against them. Now, other social media platforms are under scanner.
These accounts are under scanner for spreading messages and videos that can create unrest and lead to another turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir.
It’s no secret that the terrorist bosses sitting in Pakistan have misused social media for a long time to spread unrest and discontent in the Union Territory.
However, after August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories—the security forces and the security agencies have cracked a whip on the illegal activities of the terror sponsors.
The social media which was used as a tool to create disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir has been under continuous surveillance.
The accused acting on the behest of the people sitting across the LoC have identified and booked under the provisions of the law of the land.
The social media accounts spreading hate and indulging in a fake propaganda have been suspended.
The security agencies during the past three years have worked very hard to act tough against the trouble mongers. They have been identified and nailed.
After 2019, the trouble mongers refrain from posting anti-national content on the social media. They are aware that if they indulge in any such activity they will have to face the consequences.
But the social media accounts that operate from other side of the LoC are still active and their handlers are leaving no stone unturned to lure the youth.
During the past three years situation in Kashmir has changed. Youth have realized that guns, bombs and grenades won’t take them anywhere.
They have understood the futility of violence. The terror bosses are finding it hard to digest that their agenda has no takers.
They are making desperate attempts to fuel unrest and are using social media as a tool but their nefarious attempts are being thwarted.
