DC presides over public outreach programme at Keerian

KATHUA, Aug 16: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today presided over a public outreach programme here at Keerian organised as part of weekly Block Diwas program.
DDC Councillor Keerian Gandyal, Dr. Shweta; CPO Uttam Singh; ACD Kishore Singh Katoch; Chief Agriculture Officer, CEO, CMO, XEN. PWD, XEN PDD, XEN Jal Shakti, BDO and other officers and officials of line departments were also present.
On the occasion, PRIs and local populace projected the issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same.
The major issue highlighted by the deputations including PRI representatives was of employment of local youth in the construction work of Express highway that is passing through their block.
People from both Keerian and Gandyal panchayats also highlighted their problems and demands seeking renovation of Keerian Gandyal canal, check on unscheduled power cuts during night hours, Payment of pending liability under MGNREGA, early disbursement of compensation for acquired land of locals, meeting shortage of lecturers in GHSS Keediyan, construction of new park and Community Hall etc.
DDC Councillor, Dr. Shweta also highlighted various issues of public importance and asked for timely resolution by the concerned authority.
Responding to the demands, the DC said the issues highlighted by PRIs and others will be looked into and every effort shall be made to get tangible results before the next Block Diwas scheduled for Keerian Gandyal block.
The DC directed XEN Jal Shakti to complete all the works under JJM including the repair of roads and lanes that were affected during installation of pipes.
On the issue of engaging locals in the Express Highway Project, the DC called upon the inhabitants to submit the list of persons willing to work in the Express highway project and assured them that the administration will take up this issue with the concerned authority.
The DC also passed instructions to the CEO to make necessary arrangements to address the issue of shortage of staff at GHSS Keerian.
Responding to the demand of park and community hall, the DC said that the District Mineral fund shall be utilised for the construction of such public assets.
Assuring every possible help by the administration, the DC encouraged the people to approach the Deputy Commissioner Office for the resolution of their genuine issues and demands. He directed Officers to work with empathy and do the needful to ease out the lives of the people.
On the occasion, the DC also gave away Ayushman Cards to the beneficiaries.
