After high-command's directions ‘divided’ Cong presents united face before public | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: Although infighting between two factions in the J&K unit of Congress is going, the party on Wednesday presented a “united face” to give a message of a “truce” among warring groups. The event of giving this message of unity was the completion of one year tenure of Vikar Rasool Wani as Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief. Highly placed sources said that amid ongoing infighting among senior leaders, the Congress high command has directed all warring groups to iron out their differences to strengthen the party at this crucial juncture. Instead of patronizing one group or another, the central leadership of the Congress has asked all leaders to sit together and solve their issues amicably without showing their differences in public. High command has also made it clear that leaders of all factions would be properly accommodated in the new committee to be announced very soon. Sources further said that the central leadership of the Congress is not going to take any chance of infighting between leaders ahead of the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Panchayat elections. As reported earlier by this newspaper infighting in the J&K unit of Congress has intensified after the announcement of ULB elections as two warring factions of the party have started projecting names of their loyalists. instead of preparing panels of potential candidates for the ULB elections both factions in Congress have given the green signal to their supporters to start the groundwork. It is an open secret that the J&K unit of Congress is virtually divided into two groups. Both groups have started exercises to get maximum seats for their supporters and loyalists in the coming ULB polls. |
