GN Azad assures tunnel, electricity, mobile connectivity, tourism authority for Marwah, Warwan | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Aug 26: During a four-day tour of Marwah and Warwan areas in Kishtwar district, DPAP chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad made significant assurances to the residents of these landlocked regions. He pledged to construct a tunnel, provide electricity, establish cellular connectivity, and create a tourism authority to harness the untapped beauty of these scenic spots in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the media, Azad stated that if the Democratic Progressive Azad Party gains power in J&K, he would prioritize the development of these neglected areas. He expressed his intent to transform these breathtaking locales into something akin to 'Switzerland,' emphasizing that successive governments have ignored the far-flung villages. After spending four days in Marwah and Warwan, Azad comprehended the dire situation firsthand. He noted the absence of electricity, lack of mobile connectivity, and inadequate road infrastructure. To address these issues, he proposed the construction of tunnels to connect these isolated regions with the rest of the country throughout the year. Residents of the area fondly recalled Azad's contributions as the former chief minister, which include the establishment of hospitals, roads, degree colleges, and secondary schools. Azad also promised a special police recruitment drive for the youth in these areas, aiming to provide them with better opportunities. Additionally, Azad envisions establishing more modern schools and blocks to foster education and development once DPAP comes to power in J&K. During his tour, Azad was accompanied by other DPAP leaders, including Vice-Chairman G M Saroori, General Secretary Choudhary Haroon Khatana, Chief Spokesperson Salman Nizami, and others. The tour aimed to assess the needs and potential of these distant areas in Kishtwar district. |
