10/27/2023 10:17:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 27: In celebration of International Girl Child Day, the G.S Sports Club, in collaboration with R.M Public School (RMPS), organized an Inter-School Sports Meet at R.M Public School Chowadi. The central theme of the event was to empower "Nari Shakti" or the power of women. SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat (JKPS), Staff Officer to ADGP Railways, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dr. Sunniya Wani (JKPS), DySP Headquarters, was the guest of honour.
DySP Sunniya Wani commended the efforts of the GS Sports Club for empowering girls and for organizing such events that provide them with a platform to showcase their hidden talents. She encouraged the girl students to step forward and take the lead in society, contributing to the development and growth of the nation.
Chief guest Mohan Lal Bhagat, in his address, congratulated the management and staff of R.M Public School and the G.S Sports Club team for organizing this inspirational sports meet, bringing together various schools. He urged the girls to actively participate in making India a global power, emphasizing that without empowering women, the vision of an "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India) and a global powerhouse is unattainable. Bhagat highlighted that females make up around 50% of the population and are leading in various fields. He also pointed out the significant contributions of female athletes to India's medal tally in international events, such as the Asian Games.
The Chairman of R.M Public School, Sh. Rameshwar Mengi, presided over the function and encouraged students to stay physically fit, work diligently to pursue their goals, and play a crucial role in the nation-building process. The Kabaddi tournament was won by Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School in Gandhi Nagar, while R.M Public School Chowadi secured the victory in Kho-Kho.
Concluding the event, G.S Sports Club President Atul extended his gratitude to all the guests for their dedication to serving society. Several dignitaries and members of the school and sports club were present during the function, showing their support for the cause of empowering girls.
