GDC Kunjwani inspires youth to embrace Khadi for a Self-Reliant India | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27: In a remarkable effort to promote the age-old tradition of Khadi and contribute to the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kunjwani, in collaboration with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission of Jammu and Kashmir, organized an engaging workshop on the theme "Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion." The workshop, held within the college premises under the patronage of the esteemed college principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, sought to educate students and young minds about the significance of locally crafted products like Khadi and handloom. These products not only have a profound impact on the economy but also on ecological sustainability and women's empowerment. Dr. Tickoo emphasized the importance of adopting and promoting Khadi as a symbol of India's rich craftsmanship and self-sufficiency. A variety of activities were woven into the workshop, creating an enriching experience for all attendees. These included a quiz competition, slogan and essay writing contests, a jingle contest, short films, e-pledges, a Khadi yatra, and an exhibition showcasing Khadi products. These activities served to reinforce the cultural and economic importance of Khadi. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission team from Jammu and Kashmir graced the college campus with their presence to enlighten the students about the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEG). This initiative aims to nurture micro, small, and medium enterprises, fostering self-reliance among the youth.
