Early Times Report REASI, Oct 27: Thana Diwas," an innovative initiative by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory, is forging stronger connections between the police and the public while also providing a platform for addressing and resolving common grievances. This initiative saw active participation at multiple locations, including Police Station Ransoo, Mahore, Banganga, Reasi, Arnas, PP Bhambla, and Shergari, thanks to the efforts of the District Police in Reasi. The program was presided over by Amit Gupta, JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, and Insp. Rakesh Bamba at Police Station Ransoo. Simultaneously, Addl. SP Reasi, along with SHO Police Station Mahore, led the initiative at Police Station Mahore. Additional SP Katra, accompanied by Inspr. Nishant Gupta, conducted the program at PP Banganga. Dy.SP Hqrs Reasi, Neeraj Padyar, along with Inspr. Vijay Sharma SHO Police Station Reasi, was in charge at Police Station Reasi. SDPO Arnas, Prithpal Singh JKPS, and Inspr. Jeet Singh, Police Station Arnas, took the lead at Police Station Arnas. SDPO Mahore, Chabbil Singh-JKPS, with SHO Police Station Mahore Inspr. Karnail Singh, organized the event at Shergari, while SDPO Katra, Surinder Singh-JKPS, with I/C PP Kakryal, headed the program at PP Kakryal. The program saw the active participation of civil society members and respected individuals from the areas. During the event, participants brought various issues of public concern to light. They were assured that the police would prioritize the resolution of genuine grievances related to the police, and those involving the civil administration would be raised with the respective departments for speedy resolution. SSP Reasi Amit Gupta-JKPS, during his address, emphasized the need to revamp policing at the grassroots level in the district to enhance the skills of the police force and build confidence among the public. He also touched upon social issues, urging the public to join hands with the police to combat problems like drug abuse and other social crimes. Public representatives and participants were also reminded to remain vigilant, especially during festival days. They were encouraged to keep an eye on the activities of suspicious individuals in their communities and to promptly share information about any such persons or activities with the nearest police establishments or PCR and helpline numbers. This proactive involvement of the public is vital in ensuring community safety. "Thana Diwas" is serving as a bridge between the police and the public, fostering trust and cooperation while jointly addressing issues of public importance and enhancing community safety.
