Inauguration of Mutual Fund training program at Govt SPMR College of Commerce | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 8: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Skill Committee, in collaboration with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), organized the inauguration of a certificate course for Mutual Fund Advisor aimed at college students at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu. Dr. Monika Malhotra, the IQAC Coordinator, delivered a warm welcome address to the students, outlining the program's objectives. She explained that the training program intends to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mutual funds, tax and regulatory considerations, net asset value (NAV) fundamentals, and investment plans. The course is designed to equip participants with insights into how the industry operates. Dr. Surinder Kumar, the Principal of the college, who presided as the chief guest, emphasized the significance of such training programs in imparting valuable skill and knowledge to students pursuing graduation in commerce. He highlighted that these programs will prepare students for regulatory examinations and potentially empower them to become mutual fund advisors. Professor Pawan Gupta, the Head of the Commerce Department, interacted with the participants and provided an overview of the basic concepts of mutual funds. Akhil Mahajan, a registered trainer with BSE and an experienced stockbroker with Reliance Capital, who also serves as a Distribution Leader with ICICI, served as the resource person for the occasion. In his presentation, he covered a range of topics, including the Investment Landscape, the concept and role of mutual funds, the legal structure of mutual funds in India, scheme-related information, net asset value, total expense ratio, unit pricing, taxation, and investor services. The session was highly interactive, with students engaging in discussions about the current market scenario. Over 50 students registered for the program, which will be conducted regularly for two hours to complete the 50-hour training program. The coordination of the program was overseen by Dr. Monika Malhotra, Convenor of IQAC, and the skill committee members Dr. Fayza and Dr. Roomi Rani. Faculty members present at the event included Prof. Deepshikha Sharma and Dr. Jagmeet Kaur, while the proceedings were conducted by Dr. Fayza.
