Jammu, Jan 4: Intensified in the J&K unit of the Congress has intensified on the eve of the visit of the newly appointed AICC Incharge for J&K affairs of the Congress Party, Bharat Singh Solanki as some leaders are not happy with the venue selected by the party. Although the party is already divided between Ghulam Hassan Mir and J&K PCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani groups, now Wani’s faction is also divided among different groups. Highly placed sources said that a group that owes its allegiance to Vikar Rasool Wani is annoyed over giving importance to those who deserted the party earlier and later rejoined. Sources said that “loyalist” leaders regretted that instead of taking all on the board, Vikar Rasool Wani is working only on the directions of a particular group. As reported earlier, Solanki is reaching Jammu on January 5 to address a convention at Paloura on the outskirts of Jammu city. Although Wani has asked party leaders to mobilize prominent workers of adjoining districts and block functionaries to attend the convention, many leaders are not happy with the selection of venue. Important to mention here that on December 23 Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge assigned the charge of several States and UTs to the new members /general secretaries while relieving Priyanka Gandhi Wadra from the charge of the party in Uttar Pradesh. Bharat Singh Solanki has been assigned the charge of Jammu and Kashmir. He replaced AICC general secretary Rajni Patil. Former JKPCC president and Member Congress Working Committee (CWC) from J&K, Ghulam Ahmed Mir has been assigned the charge of Jharkhand and the additional charge of West Bengal. |
