Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 11: In a major breakthrough, a special team of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) - Crime Branch Jammu, successfully apprehended a notorious absconder, Kulranjan Sharma, who had remained elusive for nearly four years. The arrest was made under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC).
The absconder was wanted in connection with Case FIR No. 39/2020 registered at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu. The case involved Kulranjan Sharma, along with two other co-accused, Kulbir Singh (Proprietor of K. K. Motors) and Narotam Singh. They were charged with criminal conspiracy and cheating a complainant of Rs 23.5 lakh by obtaining a bank loan for the sale of a JCB.
Kulranjan Sharma, a habitual offender, has a history of involvement in three FIRs and three complaints. Two of the cases include FIR No. 33/2019 at P/S Crime Branch Jammu and FIR No. 32/2017 at P/S Janipur. Additionally, three complaints are under investigation against him.
The other two accused persons had already been brought to justice by the Crime Branch Jammu, with charge-sheets presented against them in court after thorough investigations. However, Kulranjan Sharma had constantly evaded arrest by frequently changing his locations.
Upon the request of the Crime Branch Jammu, the Hon’ble Court had issued a warrant under Section 512 Cr.PC against Kulranjan Sharma for his arrest. The Special team of EOW, Crime Branch Jammu, meticulously planned and coordinated efforts to finally apprehend the absconder after a four-year-long pursuit.
This successful operation demonstrates the commitment of the Crime Branch Jammu to bring offenders to justice and highlights the effectiveness of their persistent efforts in tracking down and apprehending individuals involved in economic offenses.
