Jammu, Jan 11: A crucial bill related to Jammu and Kashmir is will be passed in the last Parliament session before the general election as the BJP-led government at the Centre is going to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari ethnic tribe.
Although two crucial bills proposing the nomination of two Kashmiri Pandits including a woman and one Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) refugee to the UT Legislative Assembly were passed in the Parliament in December, the Bill pertains to grant ST status to Pahari was not introduced for debate.
The Bill pertains to the grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari Ethnic Tribe, Paddari Tribe, Gadda Brahmans, and ‘Kolis was introduced in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon session of the Parliament but hasn’t been taken up for debate and The Bill pertains to the granting of ST status to Pahari, Paddari ethnic tribes and others.
The passing of this Bill will change the narrative of politics in J&K.

The Budget session of Parliament, the last session before the general elections expected in April-May, will begin on January 31 and is likely to continue till February 9, sources said.
