Omar exhibits his dominance over Cong, PDP | Says no need to discuss 3 Kashmir LS seats | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18: Recently, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah stated that three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir are with the INDIA bloc and there is no possibility of these being discussed during seat sharing talks with the Congress. Talking to reporters Omar said, “There is no need to discuss three Kashmir seats but the talks will be held on how to win the rest of the three seats currently held by BJP.” The former J&K chief minister said, “There have been no talks with Congress on seat sharing yet. Let talks happen and then we will decide who will contest from where. But at the moment we would want INDIA bloc to win all six seats in J&K and Ladakh in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.” An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “On one hand Omar is saying that there is no conflict with the Congress over seat sharing in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls but on the other hand he has made it clear that no talks can be held on seats that are with NC in Kashmir. It means the National Conference won’t give up its claim on three seats.” “The NC has given a clear message to Congress that it won’t surrender any seat in Kashmir and discussions have to be held over the seats which are with the BJP i.e. seats in Jammu and Ladakh regions,” he added. An observer said that “it appears that the NC and Congress have written off the Peoples Democratic Party led by Mehbooba Mufti and despite it being a part of the INDIA bloc the PDP is unlikely to get any seat in J&K.” He said that Omar is trying to exhibit his dominance by sending a clear message to the Congress and PDP that Kashmir seats belong to NC and there would be no compromise on these. |
