Early Times Report KATHUA, Jan 23: On the 128th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Department of History, in collaboration with NSS units at GDC Kathua, organized a symposium competition centered around the life and contributions of the iconic leader. The event, held on January 23, 2024, aimed to honor Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation. More than fifteen volunteers enthusiastically participated in the symposium competition, showcasing their knowledge and insights into the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The winners of the competition were Zahira Khan, Swati Sharma, and Goldi Devi, who secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively. All participants were acknowledged with participation certificates for their active involvement. The symposium competition was judged by Prof Ram Singh, Head of the Department of Education and Coordinator at IGNOU, along with Prof Heena Saini from the Department of Mathematics. During the event, Head of the Department of History, Prof Manmohan Singh, addressed the gathering and provided insights into Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's pivotal role in raising the Indian National Army (INA) in 1943. Prof Singh highlighted Netaji's inspirational leadership, which led to an armed coup and motivated thousands of Indian youths to join the struggle for independence against British Colonial rule. The famous slogans coined by Netaji, such as 'tum muje khoon do, main tumhe azadi dunga,' 'Jai Hind,' and 'Delhi Chalo,' resonated powerfully during the freedom struggle. The event took place under the patronage of Prof Seema Mir, Principal of GDC Kathua, and the supervision of Prof Manmohan Singh, Head of the Department of History, and NSS Program Officers Dr Kulbir Singh, Dr Pinki, and Dr Arvind Kumar. The program was organized as part of the National Youth Week, and it aimed to educate and inspire the youth about the significant contributions of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to the Indian independence movement. |
