Police arrest 4 in honey trap case

Jammu, Jan 23: The Jammu Police have arrested four persons on the charges of extortion and abduction.
According to the details available with Early Times a case of abduction and extortion was reported on December 17, 2023.
The complainant, Mushtaq Hussain, hailing from Poonch, lodged a complaint at Police Post Sarwal, detailing a harrowing incident involving assault, abduction, and extortion.
According to Hussain, he was lured into a trap by a woman known to him. The woman invited him for breakfast. Upon his refusal, a group of 3 to 4 men arrived at the scene, assaulting and forcibly taking him inside a house. There, they subjected him to physical abuse, recorded explicit videos, and snatched his wallet, which contained ATM cards

The assailants, after threatening Hussain's life, forced him to reveal the PINs of his ATM cards. Subsequently, they took away the cards, withdrawing an undisclosed amount from his account. The ordeal continued with further threats, demanding a sum of seven lakh rupees for his safety. When he resisted, they increased the demand to twenty lakh rupees.
During the course of the incident, the attackers also seized a cheque worth Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 80,000 in cash from Hussain's vehicle. They also confiscated his uniform and detained him inside a room for an hour and a half.
Following the victim's complaint, the police promptly registered an FIR (179/2023) under relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act at PS Bakshinagar and arrested the four accused.
