Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, Jan 23: In observance of National Girl Child Day on January 24th, GDC Ramnagar organized a thought-provoking slogan writing competition themed "Save Girl Save Society." This annual celebration, initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2008, aims to raise awareness about the rights and challenges faced by girls in Indian society. The NSS unit of Govt. Degree College Ramnagar took the initiative to mark this day with a meaningful and empowering event. Under the patronage of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar, the program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor of Dogri. Dr. Kumar provided a brief introduction to the significance of celebrating National Girl Child Day and highlighted how empowering girls contributes to the overall empowerment of society. He acknowledged the contributions of various accomplished women to the development of the nation. A total of 60 students attended the gathering, and 8 students actively participated in the slogan writing competition, expressing their thoughts and support for the cause. All participants were warmly welcomed and appreciated by the chair. Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar, commended the organizing team and expressed the opinion that such programs should be conducted regularly to promote awareness and sensitivity. The event served as an enriching experience, offering students ample opportunities for learning and exploration of facts related to the challenges and rights of the girl child. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, NSS Incharge. Organizing members of the session included Prof. Ritika Mahajan (NSS Incharge) and Dr. Sunil Kumar (HOD Dogri), with the presence of various faculty members such as Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandit, Dr. Sham Singh, Prof. Aditya Sharma, and Dr. Mukesh Kumar (Physical Director).
