Shiv Sena accuses Election Commission of neglect, submits memorandum | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 13: Shiv Sena (UBT) has alleged step-motherly treatment by the Election Commission, claiming that top officials visiting Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections did not extend an invitation for a meeting, despite requests for time. State chief Manish Sahni expressed disappointment during a press conference at the party's state office, highlighting that the Election Commission officials were on a three-day visit to meet representatives of various political parties. While they met with representatives in Kashmir, their request for a meeting in Jammu was outright rejected, with the Election Commission directing them to submit their views through a memorandum only. Sahni emphasized the restoration of statehood before the Lok Sabha elections, urging for the reinstatement of the democratic process at the Municipal Corporation and Panchayat levels, as well as the Assembly. He also called for adequate security measures for opposition leaders, particularly Shiv Sena (UBT) members. A memorandum outlining these demands has been sent to the Election Commission via email. Additionally, Sahni suggested the inclusion of all parties and independent candidates in future meetings regarding elections."
