Srinagar, Mar 15: National Conference vice-president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that he has got nothing to do with Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and he is a NC man. While replying to a query of reporters here whether the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) would be meeting in the coming days to sort out its differences, Omar said, “The question should be put to the office bearers of the alliance. If there is (a meeting), you ask (alliance president) Farooq Abdullah. I am not an office bearer in the PAGD, I belong to NC. Ask those who hold an office in the PAGD.” Pertinently, Omar Abdullah last week had made it clear that NC would c ‘ I am not an office bearer in the PAGD, I belong to NC. Ask those who hold an office in the PAGD’ ntest all the three parliamentary seats in Kashmir and won’t leave any seat for the Peoples Democratic Party. Omar’s statement had evoked sharp reaction from the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti. She had accused NC of turning PAGD into a “joke” and breaking the alliance. According to the PDP insiders, Mehbooba is mulling to contest the Rajouri-Anantnag seat herself and is likely to field her candidates from North and Central Kashmir seats. NC despite announcing that the party would contest the elections from all the three Kashmir seats has not announced names of the candidates. On Friday reporters asked Omar Abdullah when NC would announce its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls he said “Whenever we wish to.” |
