Jammu, May 2: A day after the National Conference announced the consensus candidate of the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat, Congress candidate Tsering Namgyal today filed his nomination papers without taking his coalition partner into confidence.
The decision of the Congress candidate T Namgyal to hurriedly file his nomination within hours after the party cleared his name is a clear indication that the Leh unit of the Congress will not accept any candidate from Kargil at any cost.
As the two main constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc- the National Conference and the Congress, have announced their respective candidates, a triangular cornered contest is on the card on the lone Lok Sabha seat of Ladakh.
Apart from the Congress and the National Conference, the BJP has also T Namgyal hurriedly file his nomination after the party cleared his name.
It is a clear indication that the Leh unit of the Congress will not accept any candidate from Kargil.

Rift has surfaced within the Ladakh unit of the Congress party regarding the selection of the "official candidate".
Nonetheless, Nawang Rigzin Jora, the Ladakh Congress president and former minister, clarified from New Delhi that the party's high command has endorsed T. Namgyal, the opposition leader in the Leh Council, as the designated "official candidate" for the Ladakh seat. Plans are underway to submit nomination papers the following day in accordance with this decision. |
