Police Post Sidhra Rescues 16 Bovines, Seizes 2 Vehicles in Bovine Smuggling Operation
5/5/2024 10:47:18 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: In a decisive move under ‘Operation Kamdhenu,’ the Police Post Sidhra has scored a significant victory against bovine smuggling, rescuing 16 bovines and seizing 2 vehicles employed in illicit activities. The operation, conducted with precision and determination, underscores the commitment of law enforcement to uphold the law and protect the welfare of animals.
During a special naka laid at Tawi Bridge Sidhra on the intervening night, the vigilant police party intercepted two vehicles engaged in bovine smuggling:
1. A Truck bearing registration No. JK02X-5534, laden with 12 bovine animals.
2. A Mahindra Pickup bearing Registration No. JK19-9700, transporting 4 bovine animals.
Despite the cover of darkness providing an advantage, both drivers managed to evade capture by fleeing the scene. However, the successful interception resulted in the rescue of all 16 bovine animals and the seizure of the vehicles involved in the illegal trade. In response to this brazen violation of the law, FIRs have been registered at Police Station Nagrota, under FIR No. 134/2024 and FIR No. 135/2024, invoking relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. The investigations into these cases have been promptly initiated, reflecting the seriousness with which such offenses are being pursued. The swift and decisive action taken by Police Post Sidhra is a testament to their unwavering dedication to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of both humans and animals alike. The Jammu and Kashmir Police remain steadfast in their resolve to uphold the rule of law, and the community’s continued support is paramount in the ongoing battle against illicit practices.
