Police foil bovine smuggling attempt in Bakshi Nagar, 10 bovines rescued

JAMMU, May 11: In a swift operation on May 11th, 2024, police officers stationed at Bakshi Nagar in Jammu successfully intercepted and foiled a bovine smuggling attempt, leading to the rescue of 10 bovines and the seizure of a truck bearing registration number JK21A-8257 at Maheshpura Chowk. The accused, identified as Mohd Ashraf, son of Mohd Azeem and resident of Paziapura Kachwan in Anantnag, was apprehended on the spot by the vigilant police personnel. Acting promptly, the Jammu Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law, marking the incident with case number FIR No.62/2024 at Police Station Bakshi Nagar. This operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal bovine smuggling activities in the region. It is part of the Kamadhenu initiative, a proactive campaign launched by the Jammu Police to crack down on bovine smugglers and safeguard the welfare of livestock. 10 Bovines Rescued: The timely intervention of the police resulted in the rescue of 10 bovines, preventing their illegal transportation and potential harm. Accused Apprehended: The accused, Mohd Ashraf, was swiftly arrested at the scene of the crime, facilitating further investigation into the smuggling network. Truck Seized: A truck, identified with registration number JK21A-8257, was seized by the authorities, indicating a significant blow to the operations of the smuggling syndicate. Kamadhenu Initiative: This successful operation reaffirms the commitment of the Jammu Police to the Kamadhenu initiative, aimed at eradicating bovine smuggling and ensuring the protection of cattle across the region. The Jammu Police commend the dedication and vigilance of their personnel in thwarting this illegal activity, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to bovine smuggling.
