IRCS, J&K is running two key projects in J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 3: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K has presently running two central projects formulated by IRCS (NHQ). These vital projects are Junior Red Cross/Youth Red Cross (JRC/YRC) program and a Tuberculosis (TB) prevention project. These initiatives aim to foster youth development and combat tuberculosis in the UT. The JRC/YRC program is designed to engage young people in humanitarian efforts and community service. The objectives of this initiative include Youth Empowerment by encouraging the youth to participate in community service, develop leadership skills, and promote a culture of volunteerism; Health Education by providing knowledge on health, hygiene, and first aid to school and college students and Disaster Preparedness by training youth in disaster response and preparedness to enhance community resilience. The program involves workshops, training sessions, and community outreach activities, aiming to build a well-informed and proactive youth community in Jammu & Kashmir. So far 2003 No. of JRC/YRC volunteers have been enrolled in the UT. Likewise, Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention Project is designed to recognize the significant public health challenge posed by tuberculosis. This programme focuses on providing Support and Rehabilitation to TB patients by providing Medical support and free nutritional kits so that they can recover fully. This project is being implemented by Indian Red Cross Society, J&K through its district units headed by the respective Deputy Commissioners. So far we have provided Nutritional support to 232 patients in J&K. This project is fully funded and supported by the IRCS, J&K (UT) under the Presidentship of Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon'ble Lt. Governor (Hon'ble President, Indian Red Cross Society) J&K. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K stated that "We are committed to addressing the pressing health and social issues in Jammu & Kashmir through targeted programs like the JRC/YRC and TB projects. These initiatives are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the well-being of communities and empower the youth to take active roles in humanitarian endeavours. IRCS remains dedicated to serving the vulnerable and promoting health and social welfare across India. The launch of these projects in J&K marks a significant step in these efforts, and the IRCS looks forward to the positive impact they will bring to the UT". |
