Jammu, June 3: In response to growing security concerns, the District Magistrate of Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, has issued an order mandating the disclosure of tenant details by all property owners. This directive, rooted in Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), aims to enhance public safety by curbing the sheltering of anti-national and anti-social elements under the guise of tenants or domestic helpers. An order issued by the District Magistrate states: “All landlords and property owners must submit detailed particulars of their tenants using the prescribed Declaration Form. This submission can be done in person or via registered post to the local Station House Officer (SHO) within one week from the issuance of the order.” “Owners who have already rented out properties prior to this order must immediately provide the required tenant details to the concerned Police Station,” it added.
