All party Protest in Kathua on 8th August for restoration of statehood

Jammu, Aug 6: All the opposition parties TV have announced a dharna demonstration in Kathua on 8th August demanding return of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and the roll back of amendments increasing the jurisdiction of Lieutenant Governor in the Reorganization Act. Along with this, strongly condemned the current situation in Bangladesh and attacks on Hindu religious places, the appeal was made to the Modi government at the Centre to ensure the safety of Indian students and Hindus including Hindu religious places in Bangladesh.
Representatives of social organizations like Congress, NC, Shiv Sena (UBT), PDP, AAP, S Akali Dal, CPI ML including AIPA, HRS, DBMC etc. took part in the all party meeting held at Congress State Office in Jammu. In which, unanimously, continuing the ongoing movement for restoration of statehood and democratic rights, a Dharna demonstration was announced outside the DC office of Kathua on 8th August under the banner of All Party United Morcha.
All Party Convenor and Shiv Sena (UBT) State Chief Manish Sahni, who was present on this occasion, said that despite the long gap of five years, the promise of returning statehood has not been fulfilled. The decisions being taken by the Modi government of the Center regarding Jammu and Kashmir are clearly indicating that Jammu and Kashmir is not going to get the status of a state even in the near future. At the same time, by amending the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, the democratic rights of the people are being hollowed out. Another meeting was held in Kathua , under the chairmanship of Convenor ID Khajuria, the members of the district unit of the said parties participated and finalized the Dharna demonstration to be held on 8th August.
Narender Gupta (general secretary organiser), Vijay Lochan (NC, Chairman SC Cell), Varinder Singh Sonu (PDP), Vinod Sharma (Congress Vice President), Rakesh Singh (NC), Sunny Kant Chib (HRC), Nirmal Mahana (AAP), Narender Singh (S Akali Dal), Subhash Mehta (CPI-L), Narender Khajuria, Shahi Salim (AIPA), Sohit Sharma, Sanjeev Kohli, Vikas Bakshi were present in the meeting held in Jammu.
