Jammu, Aug 6: By announcing the constituency in-charge of 14 assembly seats for the coming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given a message that the party would go in alone in the poll. PDP has not only appointed constituency incharges for Kashmir Valley but the party has also appointed incharges for four seats of Jammu province which is a clear indication that the party is not hoping to have an alliance with the Congress. On Tuesday PDP general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that the party’s Parliamentary Board of Party in the wake of assembly elections has appointed Assembly in-charges for fourteen Assembly constituencies. As per the tradition of the PDP, that potential candidates were usually made constituency incharge. Asiea Naquash has appointedas incharge of Hazratbal, Abdul Qyoom Bhat incharge Shaltang, Firdous Ahmad Tak Kishtwar, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat incharge Chadoora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir incharge Pampore, Fayaz Mir incharge Kupwara, Mohammad Amin Dar incharge Kulgam, Yawar Bandey incharge Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Mir incharge Tangmarg, Zuhaaib Yousaf Mir incharge Lal Chowk, Shamim Ganai incharge Poonch Hawa PDP has appointed constituency incharges for Kashmir and Jammu provinces. It is a clear indication that the party is not planning to have an alliance with the Congress. As per the tradition of the party, potential candidates of PDP are usually appointed constituency incharge. i, Varider Singh Sonu incharge Bahu Jammu, Rajender Manhas incharge Samba assembly constituency and Narendra Sharma incharge RS Pura Jammu South constituency. Notably, recently a meeting of PDP’s top leadership was held in which it was decided to contest Assembly elections alone after Congress’s stand during the Lok Sabha elections. Sources indicate that the PDP's top leadership has instructed its members to prepare candidate panels for all 90 seats in the region. “The Congress leadership's prioritization of the National Conference during the Lok Sabha elections has led the PDP to reject any seat-sharing talks with other parties,” said a source. This decision has been communicated to all district presidents. Party insiders reveal that from zone presidents to district presidents, PDP leaders have warned against forming alliances, believing that ceding seats to other parties would demoralize their supporters. The PDP had expected the Congress to maintain neutrality during the Lok Sabha elections, particularly on the three Parliamentary seats in the Kashmir Valley. “The PDP leadership is displeased with the J&K Congress's aggressive campaigning against our candidates,” the source added. |
