Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organizes training programme on Profitable Sheep and Goat Farming at village Kaloyen of Jammu district for farmers and rural youths to enhance their livelihood through income generation by having a self-employment activity . The programme was organised under the dynamic Leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid and Dr. Puneet Choudhary ,Chief Scientist and Head KVK, Jammu of SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Imran Ahmad Ganai, Assistant Professor, Division of Animal Nutrition (SKUAST-J) , welcome the participants for attending the training programme and encouraged them to adopt scientific farming for more farm returns. He emphasised the significance of sheep and goat rearing in generating profitable income through a business model. Dr. Ganai spoke about the need for alternative employment and income in rural areas, pointing out that income from rainfed agriculture is not always reliable. He stressed the importance of sheep farming to the national economy, as it is sponsored through meat, fiber, and wool production. Participants gained theoretical and practical experience in sheep and goat farming business models, common diseases, feed management, loans, and subsidies. The participants thanked KVK Jammu for organizing such an innovative programme. |
