JAMMU, Aug 19: Top leaders of Sangh Parivar are visiting Jammu on August 22 to give final shape to the panels of candidates to be placed before the Parliamentary Board of the BJP. Highly placed sources said that the national general secretary (organization) along with the senior leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Arun Kumar will reach Jammu on August 22. “During their stay at Jammu, both the leaders would discuss names of potential candidates incorporated in the lists of probable for the coming Assembly polls”, sources said and added that names of potential candidates would be shortlisted and the same would be forwarded to the Parliamentary Board of the party. Reports said that the BJP has finalized panels of potential candidates for all constituencies. In districts such as Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, and Rajouri, an average of three to four candidates are vying for each Assembly seat, prompting party leadership to carefully evaluate all factors that could contribute to a win before finalizing the shortlist. According to sources, a panel of three candidates will be created for each Assembly segment and forwarded to the BJP high command for further consideration. While discussions on potential candidates are ongoing, the final decision process is still underway. The party's Parliamentary Board will make the ultimate decision on the candidates, with the names being released in phases. Reports indicate that the panels prepared by the J&K unit will be presented to the central leadership, and the feedback from two private agencies hired by the party will also be factored into the final selection of candidates. |
