| Police foil bovine smuggling attempt | | | Early Times Report
DODA, Dec 19: District Police Doda successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the Premnagar area, rescuing three bovines and arresting a smuggler.
A police team, led by the Incharge of Police Post Premnagar, set up a surprise checkpoint on the Doda-Kishtwar road at Shibnot. At around 5:00 AM, they intercepted a vehicle (Registration No. JK06B/5047) coming from Thathri towards Pull Doda. The driver fled upon spotting the police, but the vehicle was found to be carrying three bovines tied with ropes without feeding arrangements or necessary transportation permits.
Rayaz Ahmed, a passenger in the vehicle, failed to provide any documentation and was arrested. The vehicle was seized, and an FIR (No. 75/2024) under relevant sections of the Bovine Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered at Police Station Thathri. Further investigation is underway. |
