GCW Udhampur hosts essay competition and lecture on Chemistry | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 31: The Department of Chemistry at Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized two engaging events under the aegis of IQAC in December 2024. The activities aimed to enhance students' understanding of chemistry's role in daily life and its implications on global issues. Under the guidance of Dr. Indu Khajuria, Head of the Department of Chemistry, the first event was an essay writing competition titled "Chemistry in Everyday Life" for B.Sc. Semester-I students. The competition took place in the Chemistry Laboratory and was judged by Dr. Monika Gupta (Associate Professor) and Dr. Madhvi Bhardwaj (Assistant Professor). Ms. Vanshika secured the first position, followed by Ms. Anshika and Ms. Varsha in second and third positions, respectively. The second event featured a one-day lecture delivered by Dr. Shubham Sharma on the topic "Nuclear and Industrial Disasters." The lecture provided insights into the impact of industrial mishaps and nuclear incidents, emphasizing preventive measures and global safety standards. Dr. Bilal Ahmed, along with Dr. Indu Khajuria, Dr. Monika Gupta, and Dr. Madhvi Bhardwaj, ensured the smooth conduct of the events. These initiatives reflect the department's commitment to fostering academic excellence and raising awareness of pressing scientific topics. |
