GCW organizes an extension lecture on Consumer Rights | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 31: Department of Commerce, Govt. College for Women(GCW) Udhampur under the aegis of IQAC organized an extension lecture focused on educating students about consumer rights in the college premises here today. The event aimed to raise awareness among the student community about the importance of understanding and exercising their rights as consumers in today's market. Dr. Nalini Pathania, Principal of the college, highlighted the importance of consumer protection and awareness. She also urged the students' community to make the people aware regarding the rights of consumers. She emphasized that by equipping the future generation with knowledge about consumer rights, the college is fostering a culture of informed decision making and responsible consumer behavior among the youth. The event began with a welcome address presented by Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan who highlighted the objective of the event. Dr. Varun Sharma, Assistant Professor (Department of Philosophy) was the resource person. He elucidated a spectrum of consumer rights, encompassing fundamental principles such as the right to safety, the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to seek redressal etc. He also explained about grievance redressal mechanisms for protection of consumer rights. The event was organised by Prof. Neha Gupta and Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan. Among others Dr. Indu Khajuria (HOD, Chemistry), Dr. Monika Gupta and Dr. Madhvi Bhardwaj were also present on the occasion. |
