CCI expresses concern over shutdown impact on Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 31: The Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) held a meeting at Chamber House under the leadership of President Arun Gupta to address the ongoing agitation led by Sangarsh Samiti against the proposed ropeway project and the extension of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway beyond Katra. The office bearers expressed serious concern over the hardships faced by thousands of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi due to the shutdown, which has been ongoing since December 25. They emphasized the nationwide negative impact on devotees and tourism. The Chamber urged the administration to initiate unconditional and meaningful dialogue with stakeholders to reach an amicable resolution. Highlighting the participation of women and children in the protests, they called for addressing the concerns and sentiments of the people of Katra while ensuring the future development of the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. Senior office bearers, including Anil Gupta (Sr. Vice President), Rajeev Gupta (Jr. Vice President), Rajesh Gupta (Secretary), and Rajesh Gupta (Treasurer), also participated in the meeting. |
