UDHAMPUR, Dec 31: District Police Udhampur detained two habitual offenders, Raj Ali, son of Barkat Ali from Mantalai, and Ghulam Qadir, son of Mazin Din from Jig Ganshad, under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA). The detention was ordered by the District Magistrate Udhampur in response to their continued involvement in bovine smuggling. Both individuals have been implicated in multiple cases registered at Police Station Chenani. Despite repeated warnings and legal actions, they persisted in their illegal activities, which authorities deemed a threat to communal harmony in the region.
In view of their repeated offenses, the District Magistrate issued detention orders under the PSA to prevent further disruptions and maintain public order.
