Smashing the cattle syndicate: Tough measures against bovine mafia

JAMMU, Jan 3: In a determined effort to dismantle the bovine smuggling network, Jammu Police achieved significant success under Operation Kamdhenu during 2024. Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to upholding public sentiments and enforcing animal protection laws, Jammu District recorded remarkable achievements:
378 FIRs registered against bovine smugglers.
3,408 bovines rescued from illegal transportation.
354 vehicles seized for their involvement in smuggling operations.
408 accused arrested for participating in illegal activities.
8 chronic smugglers detained under the PSA for bovine smuggling.
Additionally, Jammu Police has opened history sheets and personal files for notorious smugglers and initiated the cancellation of registration certificates, route permits, and licenses of vehicles repeatedly involved in bovine smuggling. A comprehensive database of offenders has also been created to strengthen future enforcement measures.
SSP Jammu stated, "The Jammu Police is resolute in its mission to protect public sentiments and uphold animal rights. Our strict measures under Operation Kamdhenu aim to dismantle the bovine mafia and eliminate this menace from the region."
This comprehensive crackdown highlights the Jammu Police's dedication to enforcing the law and addressing community concerns. The efforts under Operation Kamdhenu will continue with vigor to ensure the safety of animals and uphold the sentiments of the public in the future.
