Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 28: In a proud tribute to the valor and sacrifices of Indian soldiers, the Chenab Brigade of the Indian Army unveiled a monolith at Pargwal near the border in Jammu. The "Pargwal Parakram Pillar" commemorates the historic victory in the Battle of Phuklian during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, showcasing the bravery of the troops who defended the Chenab Enclave. The monument, established under the aegis of the Tiger Division, aims to educate locals and youth about the heroic legacy of the Indian Army. The monolith was inaugurated by the Commander of the Chenab Brigade in the presence of military veterans, officers from the Border Security Force (BSF) and J&K Police, representatives from the civil administration, and local residents, including schoolchildren. Speaking at the ceremony, the Commander encouraged stronger military-civil cooperation to address future challenges. The event highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of such historic achievements as a source of inspiration for future generations. The Pargwal Parakram Pillar stands as a permanent symbol of patriotism and courage, reminding all of the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers of the Chenab Brigade. |
