Agencies PATNA, Jan 28: Two important publications from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, were officially released during the National Review Workshop of the Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture (ARYA) Project, held recently at Patna, Bihar. The publications, focusing on commercial floriculture and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), were launched by distinguished dignitaries at the event. The workshop, attended by senior scientists and heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) from various agricultural universities across India, was a significant platform for reviewing the progress of the ARYA project. Dr. Udham Singh Gautam, Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, reviewed the overall functioning of the project and applauded the efforts to empower rural youth, stressing the importance of skill development, branding, packaging, and marketing of farm products. KVK Reasi, under the leadership of Chief Scientist and Head Dr. Banarsi Lal, continues to promote agri-entrepreneurship among the youth of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Lal highlighted the Kendra's ongoing initiatives under the ARYA project, including commercial floriculture to counter the impact of monkey menace, organic farming, value addition in fruits and vegetables, and backyard poultry farming. He emphasized the use of a cluster-based approach to maximize the socio-economic impact on rural youth. Dr. Banarsi Lal shared that the cluster-based interventions have had a direct influence on neighboring villages, promoting the adoption of new agricultural technologies. The efforts of KVK Reasi were widely appreciated by the dignitaries and scientists, who commended the Kendra's contribution to advancing agricultural knowledge and improving the livelihoods of local farmers. This recognition at the national level further highlights KVK Reasi's commitment to enhancing agricultural practices and empowering rural youth in Jammu and Kashmir. |
