FICCI FLO JKL & Fortis Memorial Research Institute host Cancer Awareness Conclave

JAMMU, Jan 28: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter, in collaboration with Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, organized a significant Cancer Awareness Conclave at Taj Vivanta, Jammu. The event aimed to equip women with essential knowledge about cancer types, prevention, and advanced treatment options, while promoting the importance of prioritizing health. Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to the Government, Health & Medical Education Department, was the Chief Guest. He was joined by an esteemed panel of senior doctors from Fortis Memorial Research Institute, including Dr. Vinod Raina, Chairman of Oncosciences; Dr. Swarupa Mitra, Director of Radiation Oncology; and Dr. Amit Sahni, Senior Consultant of Surgical Oncology. The doctors shared invaluable insights with over 200 women in attendance.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, expressed her gratitude to Fortis for their collaboration and commended the doctors for traveling from Gurugram to raise awareness. She highlighted the importance of breaking the stigma around cancer and encouraged women to take proactive steps towards their health. The Chief Guest, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, emphasized the significance of early detection and regular health checkups in combating cancer. He also advocated for extending awareness initiatives to rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir and stressed the importance of addressing gender disparity in health. Dr. Vinod Raina discussed advancements in cancer treatment, while Dr. Swarupa Mitra focused on the significance of early detection, especially for cancers affecting women. Dr. Amit Sahni spoke about the importance of surgical interventions in cancer management. The event also saw the launch of the Fortis Privilege Card, offering exclusive benefits to FLO JKL members, including discounted access to Fortis facilities and priority services. Cards were distributed to members by the dignitaries. The conclave was attended by FLO members, educators, and students from various institutions including the University of Jammu, MIET, MIER, GCW Gandhi Nagar, and others. The event, elegantly compered by Ridhima Jain and Parakh Jain, was a success in promoting health awareness and advancing the mission of creating a healthier community.
