Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: Under the aegis of SAMETI, a brainstorming session on Post Entry Quarantine was held at main campus, SKUAST-Jammu. The session was organized jointly by SAMETI, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAST-Jammu to create awareness and sensitise the stakeholders about the necessities, restrictions and guidelines of Post Entry Quarantine. Various stakeholders who attended the brainstorming session included officers from Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Scientists from various disciplines and KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu, progressive farmers, importers of quality planting material and PG students. The session was organized under the guidance of Dr. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Research, while speaking on the occasion highlighted about the importance of integration of molecular techniques in plant disease diagnosis. Dr. Anil Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Registrar of the University discussed about the importance of quarantine measures intervention of plant diseases and insect pests. Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension and Convener of the brainstorming session welcomed the guests and appraised the participants about the paramount importance of safeguarding agriculture sector and ensuring a resilient future for the farmers through strict implementation of PEQ.
