NC’s indifference makes Cong look towards PDP
2/8/2025 12:34:59 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 7: Ignored by the coalition partner National Conference since the formation of the government, the sulking Congress leadership has opened a channel of communication with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for future politics.
Highly placed sources, with the consent of the party high-command, Congress leadership of J&K is exploring the possibility of developing cordial relations with the PDP.
“Congress leadership has realized that the ruling National Conference has dumped the party after managing the majority with the support of Independents”, sources said, adding, “Instead of sticking to an alliance with the National Conference the party leadership has decided to explore other options to further expand its base in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Party leaders are facing humiliation because despite being part of the coalition, the ruling National Conference did not consult Congress leadership on any issue after the formation of the government on October 16, 2024”, sources said and added that humiliated leadership has decided to come out of the coalition without any formal announcement by joining hands with the PDP.
Sources said that Congress leadership has realized tha
The sulking Congress leadership has opened a channel of communication with the PDP for future politics.
The Congress leadership has realized that the ruling NC has dumped the party after managing the majority with the support of Independents.
Instead of sticking to an alliance with the NC, Cong has decided to explore other options to further expand its base in Jammu and Kashmir.
Party leaders are facing humiliation despite being part of the coalition.
the party would expand its base in Jammu and Kashmir by playing the role of aggressive opposition instead of carrying out the tag of coalition partner of the ruling party.
Important to mention here that after the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh said that PDP is not our rival in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The PDP is a part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) alliance but our alliance for elections in Jammu and Kashmir is only with the National Conference”, he said.
It's worth noting that the PDP is part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) alliance, but for the Jammu and Kashmir elections, the Congress had only allied with the National Conference. Despite being part of the same INDIA alliance, the Congress and National Conference had not included the PDP in their Lok Sabha and Assembly election alliances in Jammu and Kashmir .
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had avoided directly targeting the Congress during her campaign, instead focusing her attacks on the National Conference. This strategy suggests that the PDP may be open to a potential alliance with Congress in the future.
