Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: The Business School, University of Jammu organized the lecture on " Moral Values and Ethics among Youth", under its lecture Series on "Indian Ethos and Human Values", which is in line with the New Education Policy (NEP, 2020). The event commenced with the formal welcome address by Prof. Vinay Chauhan, Director, TBS, JU. He apprised the audience about the event and the relevance of the theme in the present context of the Management Education, as it plays a pivotal role in the personal and professional development of the youth. He added that this lecture series has been initiated by TBS not only to enrich the students understanding about the Indian Ethos and Human Values, but also to inspire them to contribute towards building a better society. Prof. Nagesh Thakur, a distinguished Professor from HPU, Shimla and also a member of Executive Council, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), was the guest speaker for the occasion. In his address, he termed "Youth" as Nation's Power and highlighted and emphasized on the importance of Moral and Human Values for Youth Development and Leadership. He added that Youth is full of energy and that energy needs to be channelized in a manner that leads towards Nation building. In his impressive talk, he quoted Swami Vivekanand and Albert Einstein for drawing inferences about values and ethics. He also talked about the four moral Purushartha's in Indian philosophy which is Moral obligation, Economic obligation, Desires and Salvation. He added that truth, non- violence, integrity and selflessness are few universal moral values that an individual should hold upon. He expressed his worries as he explained the current drift of youth towards materialistic culture that creates worries, stress and destructive environment around them. He concluded by highlighting the relevance of moral values in shaping the thought process of the Youth. Prof. Naresh Padha, senior- most Professor of University of Jammu, in his presidential address accentuated the relevance of Indian Ethos in shaping responsible leadership, Ethical practices and sustainable living. Prof. Versha Mehta, TBS, JU, also addressed the students and congratulated the Director, TBS, for taking such initiatives that build the moral character of the students. Prof. Alka Sharma, Dean Business Studies & Director SIIDEC, JU, delivered the formal vote of thanks. The session was attended by faculty members, research scholars and students of TBS & SHTM, JU.
