Take immediate steps to improve Law & Order in Jammu: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 7: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta has appealed to J&K administration to take immediate necessary steps to improve the deteriorating law and order situation in Jammu region. Chairing a meeting with senior BJP leaders at Party Headquarters here today, the BJP stalwart leader expressed concern over unprecedented spike in the incidents of shootouts, murder, daylight robbery and thefts, sending ripples of fear and apprehensions among the residents as every nook and corner of the region has been facing such law and order problems. Flagging concerns, the senior BJP functionary has urged the J&K administration to direct the police department to take swift and decisive action and restore public confidence in law enforcement. He asked the administration to increase foot patrolling, set up special teams to keep an eye on criminals, and make optimum use of technology to deter the criminals from carrying out crimes. He also stressed on increasing coordination between local law enforcement and intelligence agencies to proactively identify and neutralize criminal elements. “The use of surveillance cameras in vulnerable areas and public spaces could act as a deterrent for criminals and aid in quick investigations. Improving infrastructure in police stations, providing them with modern equipment, and ensuring better resources could enhance the overall efficiency of law enforcement”, he said while adding that focus on rehabilitation programmes for drug addicts and youth in vulnerable areas could help break the cycle of crime and reduce the influence of illegal activities. |
