Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Mar 1: The NSS Units, in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, GDC Udhampur, successfully conducted a three-day hands-on training programme on aquarium making from February 24 to 27, 2025. The event aimed to equip participants with essential skills in designing, constructing, and maintaining aquariums, catering to hobbyists, students, and NSS volunteers. The inaugural session on February 24 began with the lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr. Sanjay Verma, alongside senior faculty members Prof. B.L. Thakur, Prof. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Rajni, and Dr. Mohinder Pal. In his address, Dr. Verma emphasized the importance of skill-based training in line with NEP 2020 and encouraged students to actively participate in such learning opportunities. The first day featured two technical sessions conducted by Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, who covered aquarium design principles, construction techniques, maintenance, and safety precautions. The day concluded with a group photograph with the expert. On the second day, Mr. Kewal Krishan, Deputy Inspector, Fisheries, Fish Farm Nowabad, Jammu, shared his 30 years of expertise in the field. He guided participants through glass cutting, assembling techniques, filtration systems, and fish selection, allowing them to gain practical experience in building functional and visually appealing aquariums.
