Don’t ignore election promises: Cong’s veiled warning to NC led Govt

Jammu, Mar 1: Ahead of the upcoming budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and former minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir issued a veiled warning to the Omar Abdullah-led government for failing to fulfill promises made to the people during the recent elections.
Mir, who represents Dooru constituency in south Kashmir, refrained from directly naming the National Conference government but asserted that the Congress will strongly press for the fulfillment of electoral guarantees related to socio-economic development, unemployment, and other public issues during the forthcoming session.
Mir said that the Congress Party is committed to raising the demand for filling vacant posts across government departments, regularizing daily wagers and casual labourers who have been serving for decades, and addressing the economic distress faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mir listed economic backwardness, tax burden, rising unemployment, smart meter installations, and the lack of development among the key concerns Congress will highlight on priority during the session. He reiterated that the Congress will leave no stone unturned to push for the fulfillment of all guarantees made to the public in its election manifesto.
The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is expected to begin soon, with both the ruling National Conference and the opposition BJP gearing up to present their positions in the House.
