Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 1: The Red Ribbon Club of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College (GGM Science College), Jammu, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized an enlightening awareness lecture on AIDS. The event, held under the patronage of the esteemed Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, and the expert guidance of Dr. Seema Rani Minhas, Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, was aimed at raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, its prevention, treatment, and the importance of public understanding in combating the disease. The insightful lecture was delivered by Prof. Bal Krishan, Assistant Professor in Zoology at GGM Science College, Jammu. He provided valuable insights into the causes, symptoms, and modes of transmission of AIDS. Prof. Krishan also emphasized the significance of living a pure and healthy life, incorporating practices like yoga and spirituality to cope with the challenges posed by the disease. In his address, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, the Principal of the college, highlighted the global impact of AIDS and stressed the importance of spreading awareness, education, and responsible behavior to prevent its spread. He emphasized the role of the youth in leading this charge and helping society make informed choices to safeguard health. The event began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Neha Sharma, followed by a successful session facilitated with active assistance from the committee members, including Dr. Purshottam Singh Thakur, Dr. Bhekam Pal Singh, Prof. Sunita Kumari, Dr. Arti Sharma, NSS Programme Officer Dr. Rahul Kait, and Dr. Neha Sharma. Faculty members, including Dr. Ashaq Hussain and Dr. Arbaaz Wani, were also present to grace the occasion.
