Awareness program conducted at crime headquarters for New Criminal Laws

JAMMU, Mar 1: In the series of capacity building and awareness about New Criminal Laws, Crime Branch headquarters, Jammu invited the Deputy Inspector General of Police CBI Jammu Dr. Vidyut Vikas, IRS today. He was cordially welcomed by the Inspector General of Crime Branch Dr. Sunil Gupta on this occassion.
Dr Vidyut Vikas having long five year tenure at Jammu CBI branch was welcomed by the all senior officers of the Crime headquarters including Sh. Abdul Qayoom, DIG Crime, Sh. Benam Tosh, SSP EOW, Sh. Yaseen Kitchloo, SSP CICE, Joint Director Prosecution Sh. Layeeq Ahmed, Sh. Amarjeet Singh SO to IGP, Crime Hqrs. and other senior officer.
Dr Vidyut Vikas, IRS, 2008 batch, throws special light on the provisions of new criminal laws and gave inside full knowledge of professional working of CBI. He also expressed his opinion that the standards of investigation in CBI are excellent, and the crime branch should also follow the guidelines, SOPs, and standard practices adopted by the CBI. He also described the victim centric approach of the police towards common people while investigating the case is now key essence of present police practices. The new criminal laws is all about providing justice to the common people, not only giving punishment to the culprit.
Dr Vidyut Vikas also focused on the provisions of e saksh, e-Summon and other e-practices must utilised to provide speedy justice. All the investigating officers of the crime branch headquarters attended the program with great enthusiasm. DIG CBI also gave some anecdotes and successful examples of good investigations conducted by the CBI branch Jammu.
On the occasion other speakers of Crime Branch Sh Abdul Qayoom emphasized on citizen centric attitude of the investigator officer is demand of the new time where as Sh. Layeeq Ahmad, Joint Director Prosecution gave stress on new provisions of trial in absentia in which accused can be put on trial in courts even if he is absconding.
The participants and all officials thoroughly attended the awareness program and enriched themselves with the experience of various valuable suggestions of all the speakers. Crime Branch headquarters is determined to conduct more such programs in the future to enhance the professionalism, quality of the investigation and capacity building of the workforce. At last, all officers and ranks of Crime Branch thanked Dr. Vidyut Vikas , DIG CBI,Jammu, for sparing his valuable time.
