Jammu, Mar 1: NSS Unit “Prabha” of Government Degree College Ramgarh, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Samba, SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Samba hosted a rally of all women bikers “Women Motor Biker Expedition” under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, (Drug-Free India Campaign) and Women Empowerment which was organised by Shakti Udghosh Foundation (SUF). The programme aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and promote a drug-free society. The event was organized under the able guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
The special highlight of the event was the Women Motorbike Expedition, covering stretches of the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC), redefining safe boundaries under the theme “Ride for Strength, Break the Chain, Say No to Drugs, Let’s Sustain.” symbolized breaking boundaries to fight against drug addiction and empowering women in the process. During the event, the riders interacted with students, educating them on the significance of staying drug-free and the impact of addiction on individuals and communities.
The program was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Abhimanyu Kalsotra, Tehsildar Ramgarh and Mr. Bharat Bhushan, SHO Ramgarh, along with his team, who spoke on the occasion and shared their views on Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and three New Criminal Laws. The program also witnessed active participation and presence of Dr. Ruchi Thakur, District Mission Coordinator of SANKALP: HEW, Mission Shakti Samba, along with Ms. Mansi Abrol and Ms. Ritika Banotra, gender specialists and Mrs. Anuradha Specialist in financial Literary from SANKALP, Mission Shakti, Sahil Choudhary from the Child Helpline, Dr. Preeti Choudhury Convenor of Shakti Udhgosh Foundation (SUF), along with her team including Ms Divya Sharma coordinator SUF, Mr. Sandeep Manhas Organizing Secretary SUF, Mr. Ravinder Choudhary Ride Executor, Mr. Ravi Dutt, Chairman of Saraswati Sangeet Art and Cultural Foundation Samba, along with his team.
The program featured a captivating nukad natak performed by Ravi Dutt and his team, which illustrated the critical message of of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. Their performance was an impactful way to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and encourage people to stay drug-free. A signature campaign by District Social Welfare Department was also launched to gain public support for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. The programme was coordinated by NSS PO, Prof. Brham Dutt along with support of all faculty members including Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Shivali Panjgotra Dr. Neeraj, Dr. Susheel Kumar, Mr. Darpan Malhotra, Ms. Priya Sharma, Ms. Sayema and Ms. Anjali, NSS Volunteers and students of the college.
